FOR THE 20 NOV 24 WEDNESDAY NIGHT NET (PCN) SUBMIT A ICS-213
Instead of the normal WinLink net check-in, members are requested to
transmit an ICS-213 General Message to N4PRS. The ICS-213 is used when
you cannot transmit the information orally and, for us, the information
is likely to be conveyed into the formal incident management system.
Like the SITREP, it’s easy. Open RMS Express then open a new message
form. On the actions bar, click Select Template. In the Template Manager
open Standard Templates (version x.x.x) then open ICS USA Forms. Select
ICS213 General Message.txt. The form will open. Click “THIS IS AN
EXERCISE” in the gray area at the top of the page. Complete the form,
click Submit and follow the instruction in the pop-up window. For item
2, send it to “Wayne Beasley, Net Controller”. For item 7, in addition
to your message if any, please add “PCN CHECK-IN”. Questions? Contact

SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reports that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period
ending yesterday at 4 p.m. local. The Space Weather Prediction Center
expects solar activity to be low today with a chance for M-class flares
and moderate with a chance for a chance for an X-class flare Tuesday and
Wednesday. Radio blackouts reaching the R1 (minutes) level are likely on
the sunlit Earth.
There are 6 numbered sunspot regions on the Sun facing Earth this
morning. There were 6 last Monday, 13 the Monday before.
Sunday’s noon Solar Flux Index (SFI) observation at Penticton was 231,
last Sunday’s was 241. The index is predicted to measure 210 today, 215
Tuesday and 215 on Wednesday. The much more important SFI 90 day
trailing average was 218 yesterday. It was 222 last Sunday.
The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled yesterday. The SWPC expects
the field to be quiet to active today, be quiet to unsettled Tuesday,
and quiet to active on Wednesday. The planetary K-index at 7 a.m. this
morning was 0.67 indicating quiet conditions.
Not much has changed. Expect propagation to be about the same as last
week: poor during the day on 80 to 40, fair to good at night; good day
and night on 30 to 15; and good day, poor night on 12 and 10M. Go to
https://www.n4prs.org/looking-up/ for the latest observations. 6 meters
has been awake, mostly in the mornings and mostly TEP/F2 into South
America and South Africa. The DXpedition in Malawi was worked by K4JJW
yesterday, FT8. This morning there’s an opening into Europe. If you can,
give SIX a try.

HAM EQUIPMENT FOR SALE, TRADE, OR WANTED
Send me your amateur radio related items that are for sale, trade, or
wanted and your contact information. PLEASE let me know when you have
have sold your item or if your listing is no longer needed. Listings
will EXPIRE AFTER 90 DAYS unless I hear otherwise. Thanks, Jim.
–NEW WANTED: about 100′ of coax. RG-8 type preferred, but RG-8X is
acceptable. Used is OK. This is for one of my Technician students that
has a 2-meter rig that he wants to listen to, and eventually use to
access local repeaters. Old used cable is preferred as we will measure
its attenuation and adjust transmitter power accordingly as a hands-on
learning experience. Failing a 100′ piece we can splice a few shorter
pieces, again measuring attenuation, etc. So if you have some old cable
lying around give me a call or email. Bill Michne, WM3X, 252-671-6703,
or drmichne73@gmail.com. (20241111)
