PARS BREAKFAST MEETING THIS COMING SATURDAY

Our next meeting will be at 0900 Saturday, July 27th, in the back room

of Brantleys Village Restaurant on Broad Street in Oriental. Please park

along the side or out back. We hope to see you all there. Come early for

breakfast with your fellow hams. For more information contact Pamlico

Amateur Radio Society President Bruce Perkins, K4ONC, 252-626-2730 or

Look for more info on the Silent Auction coming up on Saturday, August

3rd. Hear about a Zoom presentation by Frank Donovan titled “Improve

DXing during the Solar Max” being arranged for PARS Members and friends.

Expect updates on the local repeater scene and the next pico balloon

launch. Always lots to talk about plus a chance for a Brantleys Gift

Certificate.

WHERE IS SHE NOW? EASTERN EXPRESS DAY 123 (MAYBE)

Where is she now? We don’t know. Her last report was on Friday July 5th

and she was then over Germany nearing Berlin. We haven’t heard from her

since. The little Eastern Express could still be up there somewhere

going wherever the wind takes her. The flimsy wire dipole antenna could

have well broken off, her power capacitors failed, solar panel gone, who

knows. We can only guess.  Four and half laps around the world… She

did well.

WINLINK CHECK-IN CHANGE FOR THIS WEDNESDAY’S PCN

As a change of pace and to re-gain familiarity with one of the many

WinLink forms/templates, instead of the usual “Winlink Check In” form,

please use the “ICS213 General Message.txt” form this Wednesday. In

brief, here’s how:

1) Launch Winlink Express and select “Message” followed by “New Message”.

2) Select “Template” and click the + sign next to “Standard Templates”.

3) Click the + sign next to “ICS USA Forms” and select the “ICS213

General Message.txt” form by double clicking.

Complete the “General Message (ICS 213) form with any station

update/status info and submit. That’s all there is to it.
