SEPTEMBER PARS BREAKFAST MEETING A BUST
Several intrepid PARS members made it to Brantley’s about the time the
power went out. Tropical Storm Ophelia had gone past just to our west a
couple of hours earlier heading north, the winds had calmed and the rain
slackened. The meeting would go on as planned. Well, surprise! The
backside of the storm took out Mr. Duke’s service to Oriental just after
7 am. Those few who made it to Brantley’s ended up enjoying a
candle-light but only warmish breakfast. Just before 8 am Brantley’s
management decided to close the doors. They had received Duke’s estimate
that the power should be back by 6 PM, dinner time. Not good. (It did
come back on around noon.) The September meeting will not be rescheduled.
