MAYSVILLE HAMFEST ON SUNDAY, OCT 8TH
The MAYSVILLE HAMFEST will be on Sunday, October 8th, at the Rotary Park
Community Center, 704 8th Street. (If coming from New Bern on Business
US-17 turn right on 8th Street.) Last of the old fashioned tailgating
swapfests, Maysville admission is free. Food is available. There will be
radio raffle at the end of the day as well as hourly prizes. Hours are 8

SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reports that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period
ending yesterday at 6 p.m. local. The Space Weather Prediction Center
expects solar activity to be low today through Wednesday. Although
activity may be low, there a is a slight chance for M-class flares each
day. A new large sunspot is emerging. There are 6 numbered sunspot
regions on the Sun facing Earth this morning. There were 9 last Monday,
5 the Monday before.
Sunday’s noon Solar Flux Index (SFI) observation at Penticton was 145.
Last Sunday’s was 164. The index is predicted to measure 145 today, 140
Tuesday and 140 on Wednesday. The SFI 90 day trailing average was 162
yesterday. It was 162 last Sunday.
The geomagnetic field was unsettled to active Sunday. The SWPC expects
conditions to be quiet to unsettled today, reach major storm levels
Tuesday and then quiet to active Wednesday. The planetary K-index at 5
am this morning was 2.67 indicating quiet conditions.
Today and tomorrow, propagation is expected to be poor on 80 through 4
during the day, fair at night. On 30 and 20 expect fair day, good at
night. Good conditions during both day and night are expected for 17 and
15 meter bands. Ten and 12 should be fair during the day, poor at night.

–MICRONESIA, V6. Look for V6Z, V63Z, V6AAA, V6WW, V63FM, V63OS,
V63VB, and V63SX to be QRV from Weno Island, IOTA OC-011, from
September 18 to 21. Activity is on 160 to 6 meters using CW,
SSB, and FT8.
–CHATHAM ISLANDS, ZL7. Holger, ZL3IO are QRV as ZL7IO to September 29.
Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY, FT8, and FT4. QSL
via DK7AO.
