SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reports that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period
ending yesterday at 5 p.m. local. The Prediction Center expects solar
activity to be low today through Wednesday with a 15% chance for M-class
flares. There are 7 numbered sunspot regions on the Sun facing Earth
this morning. There were 5 last Monday, 7 the Monday before.
Sunday’s noon Solar Flux Index (SFI) observation at Penticton was 146.
Last Sunday’s was 150. The index is predicted to measure 153 today, 153
Tuesday and 155 on Wednesday. The SFI 90 day trailing average was 166
yesterday. It was the same last Sunday and the Sunday before.
The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled Sunday. The SWPC expects
conditions to be he same, quiet to unsettled, today, Tuesday, and
Wednesday. The planetary K-index at 5 am this morning was 3.00
indicating quiet conditions.
Today and tomorrow, propagation is expected to be poor on 80 through 40
during the day, only fair at night. Thirty and 20 should be fair during
the day, good at night. Good conditions during both day and night are
expected for the 17 and 15 meter bands. Ten and 12 should be fair during
the day, poor at night. Activity has been and will be sparse on six.

Island until September 14. Activity is on 80 to 6 meters using SSB

bands using FT8 and possibly SSB. QSL via M0OXO.
