PARS MEETING THIS COMING SATURDAY
****9:AM ON THE RADIO*****

PRESIDENT’S SOAPBOX
Because of the restrictions on things like group sizes and restaurant’s
not serving sit down customers, we will not have our regular monthly
PARS meeting at Brantley’s this coming Saturday. Instead, we will have
a meeting on the air in a net format. So Saturday, March 28, the PARS
meeting will take place on the Oriental repeater (147.21 MHz, +600 kHz,
151.4 Hz tone), beginning at 9:00 AM. Stations wishing to participate
may check in following instructions provided by net control. You must
be checked in in order to query, comment, or vote on a topic under
discussion. Eating breakfast in your shack during the meeting is
allowed. [And you can park anywhere you want–ed] We will continue to
meet in this manner until such time as the restrictions are lifted.

SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reported that solar activity was very low during the 24 hours
ending yesterday at 5 pm local. There are no sunspot regions on the Sun
facing Earth this morning and we have had none for 63 of our 83 days so
far this year. Solar activity will continue to be very low through
Wednesday according to the Space Weather Prediction Center. On Sunday,
the reported Solar Flux Index (SFI) at Penticton was 70. The index is
predicted to register 70 today through Wednesday. The more important SFI
90 day trailing average is 71.

The Earth’s geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled yesterday. It is
expected to be quiet to unsettled today then quiet on Tuesday and
Wednesday. The estimated Kp-index of 1 reported at 5 a.m. local this
morning indicates we are currently experiencing quiet conditions.

We can expect poor daytime and fair nighttime operating conditions on 80
and 40 meters. Expect poor conditions on the higher bands.

For an explanation of numbers used in our PARSgram, see the excellent
article written by Carl Luetzelschwab, K9LA at
