PRESIDENT’S SOAPBOX
Perhaps nothing in amateur radio gets more attention than the subject of
antennas. We love antennas. We put them up, we measure all kinds of
properties, Mother Nature takes them down, and we put them up again.
There are books galore on their design and construction. Case in point,
the ARRL has just announced the publication of the 24th edition of The
Antenna Book. Now, every ham ought to have some kind of antenna book
that explains the basics like 468/f(MHz) and SWR. But if it’s detail you
want this book(s) has it in spades. 1024 pages in 4 volumes, weighing
in at 6 lbs, all for only 65 bucks. A must have book for the super
contest stations. …_._ de WM3X, Bill Michne, 252-249-1175,

ARES/AUXCOMM
From Mike Marsh, K4NLC:
Due to a key speaker scheduling conflict, we moved the AUXCOMM/ARES
training session to next Thursday the 19th of September. Same place, PCC
– same room, 411 – same time, 1900L.
In addition to the Hotwash discussion of our recent deployment, we will
be discussing the upcoming Winlink class that Gary will be running and
the 2 Winlink drop-kits we will be checking out.
Thanks for your flexibility – Semper Gumby!
